Therapy for life after hard events.
We work with people who feel stuck carrying something that happened, or something that is still happening. You do not need to have the right words yet; we begin with what feels most present now.
What people bring us.
Some people come in feeling on edge, shut down, or easily startled by reminders they cannot control. Others notice their sleep, concentration, or relationships have changed since a hard event. Sometimes the hardest part is that life keeps going while a part of them feels caught back there. They may know something is off, even if they are not ready to name it.
- I feel like I am still bracing for something bad.
- Certain places or dates hit me out of nowhere.
- I keep going numb when I want to speak.
- I do not feel like myself since that happened.
We make room for what happened without forcing you to tell it all at once.
How we work with it.
We stay with the impact of what happened and how it shows up now. For one person, that may mean making sense of triggers, shutdown, or constant alertness. For a couple or family, it may mean noticing how the experience has shaped communication, closeness, and roles at home.
We move at a pace that leaves room for your reactions in the room, not just the story on paper.
Questions people ask.
Q. Do I have to talk through everything that happened?
No. We can begin with what feels possible and work from there. The first step is understanding how the experience is affecting you now.
Q. What if I get overwhelmed talking about it?
We pay close attention to pacing and what feels manageable in the moment. You can say when something feels too close or too much.
Q. Can you help if it still feels raw?
Yes, people often arrive while something still feels close to the surface. We focus on what is happening in daily life and how the memory or stress is showing up now.
Q. What if it is affecting my relationship too?
Whether you are coming to us as an individual or a couple, that belongs in the conversation. We can look at how the experience has changed closeness, conflict, or trust with the people around you.
